New remote program

what is showing on the TV? if this is directv satellite, probably means you haven';t selected the correct input on the TV. Use the TV controller to select the correct input (maybe called "source" on your TV)

It is direct tv. I have a working remote that I’m using. The new remote does not do anything

If I use my old remote and go to settings could this get me where I want to go

Can you please verify if it is a DIRECTV STREAM or DIRECTV Satellite service?

Again, my new remote does not activate the menu option. How do I make this remote activate my tv

If I could just get it to activate something

Thanks @dclima for letting us know. We're here to help to manually activate your remote control. 

Let's try the following steps to program your new remote:

1. Point the remote at your Genie HD DVR, Genie Mini, or Wireless Genie Mini.
2. Press and hold the MUTE an SELECT buttons while continuing to point the remote at a Genie device. Stop when the green light at the top of the remote blinks twice. 
3. Use the buttons on your Genie remote to enter code 961.
4. Press the channel up button once. 
5. Press Enter.
6. Select OK when the TV screen displays Your Remote is now setup for RF.
7. Power on the device you want your remote to control.
8. Press MENU on your remote.
9. Select Settings > Remote Control > Program Remote.
10. Select the device you wish to control with the remote. 
11. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete programming. 

Please keep in mind the directions vary for different devices.
