No sound
I was watching TV this morning when all of a sudden the sound went off. I changed the channel thinking maybe the station was having problems. No other channels have sound either. I turned on the DVD player and the sound worked just fine when using that. What could be wrong?

I unplugged the receiver for a few minutes and then plugged it back in. We now have sound again.

Pushing the red button behind the front panel access card door should also work to reset the Receiver.

We had the same thing happen this morning on all of our DVR's (we have 3). Rebooting did take care of it but then after an hour or so they lost their sound again!!!!!! Must be an OKC thing but it is not fun rebooting every time you turn around. So what is going on?

Same here. I've rebooted 4 times. It works for a while then we lose sound again. Saw some posts from around the country with similar issues. Looks more like an NBC problem. If your on an NBC station (KFOR or even USA) you'll lose sound altogether. I've had my HD DVR on Planet Green all morning (not owned by NBC) as a test with no issues. If I go to KFOR I'll lose sound after a while. Doesn't seem to be Equipment. There are various Hardware all with the same problem. It is up to Directv at this point.

I just had my HR22 replaced (with an HR24) because of sound issues it started with intermittent static/popping...then the sound went out completely on day a couple weeks ago. A reset did not work. The next day, a reset did work...but I had had enough at this point and had the box replaced. (FYI...not an NBC problem, not an OKC problem. I live in VA and there was no sound on any channels.)
Furthermore, after having that box deactivated and replaced, I subsequently was allowed to reactivate that box (I hadn't turned it back in yet) in order to watch recorded programming that I would have lost otherwise (because DTV has not provided a way to transfer programming to another box...which would be easy by the way.)...problem is, the box can no longer be seen by any TV in the house, it just gets NO SIGNAL. The TV doesn't even recognized that it's attached (even though it's on, connected and activated.) Don't know what that could be about, the DTV service folks say that I should be able to see it. Has to be some sort of hardware issue in the box (we did all of the normal cable/tv/connection troubleshooting...no luck).

Best to start your own new thread using the "Create New Post" button on the main forum page. Your problem may very well be different from the original poster's. With a new thread you can provide more information about your equipment, location, and troubleshooting you've tried so far. And this forum software makes it difficult to track or respond to folks that add onto someone else's thread.

Same thing here.. Started last night, I am in Enid Oklahoma area and using 2 HD DVR receivers. The problem is happening on both.
I called DTV at lunch time and they are aware of the problem with our receivers and are working on a patch to push out that will resolve the problem. Until then we are supposed to keep unplugging/replugging our boxes to fix the problem which is ridiculous since it take them 15 minutes to start up!! I am outraged by this. Seem to have only problems with these boxes.
Seriously considering going back to my cable company.

Same problem here. I'm in Blanchard and have an hr20 and hr22. At first I thought it was an hdmi problem but it was happening on different dvr's on seperate tv's. Noticed no audio but could still hear the dvr sound effects so I knew the tv's were getting audio from the dvr's. Both lose audio but only do so if tuned to KFOR. If I leave them on any other channel then I don't have this problem. I noticed some "pops" in the audio from KFOR that are not present on any other channels. I also get these "pops" when using my tv's tuner and antenna. Hopefully this will help narrow down the cause of this problem.

Sorry, missed your post earlier, but do agree that this seems to be a problem with NBC.

I'm in Ada, and I started having the same problem yesterday morning. I noticed that the sound was not working ONLY on the Oklahoma City channels. When I went to a cable channel (ESPN, HGTV, etc.) the sound was fine. I also found that if I reset my receiver, the sound would come on for 50 minutes before going off again. Weird...50 minutes every time. And it only happened on the HD DVR Receiver...the receiver in the bedroom works fine.

See http://forums.directv.com/message/10976833#10976833 more on this. It seems that something in the NBC HD signal is screwing up the receivers. Once it has happened, you often lose sound on all channels until you reboot.
as posted, DirecTV is looking into why this is happening.

I called and spoke to DTV yesterday and they are aware of the problem and they are trying to fix it. It does seem to happen only when we are watching an NBC channel. I just reboot the receiver and then we have sound again. It is getting to be a bit annoying though.
