Nomad for iPAD?
Ok, so I know that the iPhone app works on the iPad. I watch shows from both devices and the quality is just not the same. Is there and update when the iPad and Mac releases will be coming out? There seems to be no information that states it will be out in 6 days, or 6 years. Considering the amount this device cost, it should have been out by now. I have both a Mac and iPad that I no longer download to, as the quality is just not there as it is with the streaming iPad apps. Any update when this will be available?

No, and Directv never publishes a forecast of releases.

If you simply wanted to rant you should have warned me not to waste my time. (Im a user like you and not an employee) All of the publicity clearly states that the iPad App is not yet ready.

Why use Craigslist when you can call up DTV and get your money back?? I just returned mine for the exact same reason.

Note that you can't easily resell your Nomad on CraigsList or eBay because it's only authorized to your account. You'll need to call DirecTV and have it removed from your account before anyone else can activate it on their account.

dcd, I appreciate the answer you gave and apologize for wasting your time. I guess an emotional response came out since I am also a developer and believe the more you keep your user group close, the more success you will have as the feedback is real time. Them not putting any communications out when this will be released goes against the principles of software development in my world. I guess my world is a bit more user friendly.

I have no real knowledge of why they don't announce coming events, but here's my best guess. They have dozens of projects in research and development at any given time. Many are interdependent on each other if they are ever to make it to main stream. I'm sure that many are eventually abandoned. Assume for a moment they put out a complete list of their in development stuff. I can tell you that these forums would be over run with screams the first time that they withdrew a project or put back a date. If you don't believe me, look up the posts dealing with the offering of HD resolution for the following channels, AMC, QVC, BBC and the food channel. I'm here to tell you that people can be rabid so if it were my choice, I'd keep mum as well.
By the way, I personally asked a DTV man in the know when he felt the iPad Nomad app would be released and he said that they were not releasing that info at this time. As I see it there is no cause at all to get excited, surely it will be along when it's ready.
By the by, Directv does use a rather sizable group of volunteers to test their various new programs and devices so if you are truly interested you might look into that. Of course they aren't looking for folks who are strictly seeking an early release, they need true testers.

There's no excuse for not having an iPad app since they run essentially the same exact operating system and releasing iPad apps at the same time as iPhone apps doesn't seem to be a problem for other companies. They have the same specs almost besides a minor bump in resolution 960x640 on the iPhone and 1024x768 on the iPad.
They might calm some people down if they would just list a reason why the iPad app isn't ready yet because as far as I and everyone else see there is no reason it's not out yet.

I never asked for one or said they did publish release forecasts all I asked for was a reason that there seem to be an issue releasing an app for the same operating system just a bigger screen.
The Nomad app works with different graphics card, processors, and screen resolutions that basically the same issue with the iPhone except specs are almost identical.

Talking to some folks is like whistling into the wind, it makes a noise but it has zero effect. I suggest you contact Directv via email, include your name, phone, and account numbers and ask why no iPad App.

This is still a little ridiculous because if you look at the page where they advertise it on their site they show a mac, pc, and ipad (clearly) with photos of a show on all 3!
