# of lines required for DVR

IWe've had DirectTV for a few years now and like it.  I'd like to upgrade to the HD DVR but only have one line coming in to each room/tv.  Is the HD DVR set up to allow this?  I really do not want the installers here again adding more cable lines and holes into the house.  (We changed to DTV when our home was struck by lightening and all the cable lines coming in were fried.)   Thanks!
