old reciever

I have an old RCA model DRD203RW. Ive never used it because until recently Ive had cable. It came with the house when I bought it 7 years ago (the receiver). I now have direct tv. Can I use this older receiver on my new direct tv install?

if that receiver was never on your account, DIrecTV will NOT activate this receiver on your account.  Second, you say that you have  a new install, so chances are that you have a SWM system, if this is the case, then that receiver is not compatible with a SWM system.

the drd series of recievers are nothing but door stops.  Even if you could activate on your account, you would have nothing but trouble with it.  Throw it in the trash and order a new reciever from DTV.
