On Demand Free recordings now only available from DVR recorded on?
To be clear I am not talking about PPV movies or events that are only available on one receiver unless ordered by web or phone.
You used to be able to record free on demand movies on any DVR or my Genie and whole house would allow viewing on any house DVR or HD receiver. In fact to watch on a non-DVR non-genie client you had to do this.
Recorded an on demand free movie from FXM "channel" 1258....and on my genie it has the red circle.....not too many streams.....it says "The program was recorded on xxx and must be watched on xxx". So my Genie can't play it back?
This seems new, makes no sense, and only pushes people more and more to use other streaming services which is how I finally watched this older movie.
I stopped trying to watch 4k on demand on DTV long ago, this may stop my use of HD on demand too.
Was this a conscience change? True for all free on demand?
Thanks,

Hi @bjbbjb,
Let us help! Start by using the Troubleshoot and Resolve Tool to try to diagnose the problem that's causing the other receivers to not play the downloaded content. Let us know what it finds and we'll go on from there.
Talk to you soon!

I can try this but this is a programmed message from DTV not an error message. Can you confirm this is not a new policy or "functionality"?
All other recorded shows can be played on all receivers.
Thanks,

Hello again @bjbbjb,
We've done some digging and have found information as to why you're not able to access certain video On Demand content.
You're getting the on screen display message, 'The program was recorded on ### and must be watched on ###' because certain video on demand content can only be played on the receiver on which it was downloaded. The content is designated in the playlist with a red no-access dot, as you mentioned. This may be due to the restrictions and availability of the titles you are attempting to access.
Are you able to access other recorded content?
Reach back and let us know!
