On Demand Not Available
New customer just hooked up yesterday. When I go to the menu and click on demand it says not available. The same thing happens when I go to the channel number. I have called DIRECTV for support and they are no help. The Internet Signal at the top corner of the screen shows the signal so I am connected to the Internet. I have high-speed Wi-Fi in the home. One DIRECTV representative said you had to subscribe to on-demand. I went online and bought the highest package they have. I still do not have on-demand.

Thanks everyone so much! I was so excited to get such clear and concise answers. Having spoken to two employees and was given incorrect information I had pretty much given up until I found this forum.
Turns out you were correct. The channels had not finished loading completely and on demand started working this afternoon. Now I’m hooked on binge watching my favorite shows.

It takes 2-3 days for the on demand guide data to download before on demand is available. Give it time, if you still don’t have on demand in a couple more days, then it’s time to troubleshoot.

Since your Service was just installed as stated, it will take 24 to 48 hours for the Guide to download (for 14 days) of information, longer for VOD as D*TV does not control the VOD SERVERS of the channels and those servers are located all around the COUNTRY -that's why it does not matter how fast your connection is because the info hops across many internet networks to get to your location.
If after 48 Hours you still do not have VOD --Then use your remote --Menu -Search (TYPE) CLEARMYBOX --Search -then Search all --your receiver will reboot and it will reload all the software plugin's that may have not completed when your service was first installed.
After that reboot --it will take 24 to 48 hours for everything to re-populate again.

Any symbols shown on the TV doesn't mean that the DTV receiver is connected to the internet only if the receiver says it is connected.

Suggest you start a New thread and list your D*Tv Receivers and what VOD channels you are having an issue with.
