Over Air Locals during a storm

I live in Tornado alley. I bought the silver box HR20 due to the fact that I can watch local channels via antenna while the signal is lost to thunderstorms. And we lose it during EVERY thunderstorm.

My problem is when the power goes out for just a second, which it does often during thunderstorms, I can't watch locals until the thunderstorm passes.

The receiver will not fire back up until it can get signal from the satellites.

Is there a way to bypass the searching for signal and go directly to over the air?
