over heating receiver message

I have a over heating receiver message. Not sure what is happening?

Typically this means that an internal fan is blocked or stopped working.  Or perhaps the DVR is installed in an enclosed cabinet.

Thank you. I was using the canned air spray on it a few days ago and then i got this message..

I can hear the fan running. I can feel a slight air movement coming out of the fan shroud. No odd sounds at all. The DVR is in an open air glass stand.

If you're still getting that message then the DVR is defective.  Call DirecTV to request a replacement Receiver/DVR.  It's free if you have their Equipment Protection Plan, or within 90-days of installation.  Otherwise ~$20 for shipping.  Or ~$50 to have a tech come replace it for you.
