I just got a Yamaha YAS 209 sound bar. How do I pair it with the DirecTV remote control?

Hi, @kgdspd, we're happy to help.

To learn how to program your remote to your new soundbar, check out our support article on programming your remote control. Select the remote you have, then follow the steps listed under the section titled Program remote manually for your HDTV or audio device. If you need further assistance, let us know.

I have the same problem. Yamaha YAS 209 is not listed as an available model. Selecting the "I don't know my model" gives 97 possibilities to try. I tried every single one, and none work. Your answer does not work for the specific question concerning the specific audio device -Yamaha YAS 209.

@ATTHelp the solution does not work. It gives me the option to try 97 different possibilities. This is a popular sound bar sold at Costco so Durectv should support it. How can I make it work? I don’t consider having to purchase a universal remote a good option. Thank you.

I have the same problem. This is a newer Yamaha soundbar and is popular. Directv should support it.

@ATTHelp Do you have an update on this? I can also confirm none of the 97 Yamaha codes work for the YAS-209 soundbar.

@ATTHelp @goldw1800

I'm not sure what AV1/AV2 is referring to in the following directions. If it helps I have the RC73 Direct TV remote

Use code 30176 or 31331 for the Yamaha Sound bar
(There has to be a TV code programmed to the TV device or the volume keys will not work)
Then try this:
-AV1 or AV2
-Press and hold MUTE & SELECT, wait for two blinks and release
-Enter 30176
Then…
-AV1 or AV2
-Press and hold MUTE & SELECT, wait for two blinks and release
-Enter 993
-Press SELECT
Then…
-AV1 or AV2
-Press and hold MUTE & SELECT, wait for two blinks and release
-Enter 963
-Press Ch Down
Then teach the Yamaha Sound bar the commands from the DirecTV ATT remote control.

Hi, @dsuds.

AV1 and AV2 are referring to the input for the Sound bar that you are trying to  program.

Let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.

@goldw1800 @ATTHelp Thanks for that video, but the setup with model numbers doesn't work for this soundbar model. It's not listed and the 97 Yamaha codes do not work. I tried the manual entry with the prior link but I'm not sure where to find AV1/AV2. There isn't a button on that for the remote. I did select "add audio device" on the remote setup and tried the above procedures but it didn't work.

Hi, @dsuds.

Have you tried the function on the remote where it programs the device automatically?

Here are the Steps, that we recommend that you follow.

  • Point the remote at your Genie HD DVR, Genie Mini, or Wireless Genie Mini.
  • Press and hold the MUTE and ENTER buttons. Stop when the green light at the top of the remote blinks twice.
  • When the TV screen displays Applying IR/RF setup, you are in RF mode and ready to program the remote.
  • Power on the device you want your remote to control.
  • Press MENU on your remote.
  • Select Settings > Remote Control > Program Remote.
  • Select the device you wish to control with the remote.
  • Follow the on-screen prompts to complete programming.

Let us know if this helps.
