Pass through?
I can only use my dvd player and keep Direct TV on another channel if I pass it through my receiver. I never had to do this with cable. What is the problem? Why can't I pass coaxial cable in and out of my Direct DVR box? I'm thinking of leaving you for something else.

Maybe you can, but that depends on the model of your DVR. The model can be found behind the access card door on the bottom right of your receiver. By the way, the forum participants are just fellow customers, not DIRECTV employees.

My model number is R22-200. It has a coaxial "in" and and a 3-wire composite video "out."
I apologize for assuming. I'm just very frustrated.

I'm not positive just what you're trying to do, but here are a couple of details. The R22 has no coax output. The coax input can only be connected to the feed from the dish. It has a HDMI out, a yellow/white/red composite video/audio out and a red/green/blue red/white component video/audio out. In order to operate your DVR player, it will need to use the composite set. The Directv receiver will determine what channel is output and the DVD player will need to be set on AV1 or whatever the DVD refers to composite as.

I understand what you're trying to do, but the R22 does not support that. I also have an R22 and a DVD player and I have them connected separately to different inputs on my TV. If I want to switch from one to the other, all I have to do is use a remote to change TV inputs. No big deal.
