Playlist Feedback

Fist off let me say, finally Dish can shut up about multi-room.

While browsing the playlist it would be nice to either...

1) be able to filter the playlist by receiver. Currently you can only filter what is either local or everything. It would be nice to filter what is on the remote DVR so you can delete items off of it.

2) have the playlist colorized to match which DVR the program is on. This would also help with being able to decipher what program is on what DVR.

3) have the ability to record a show from your local DVR to a remote DVR. You can do this with an iPod touch or web interface but it would be nice to do it from your local DVR.

No matter what, this feature has been a long time coming and I am glad it has arrived.

It appears to me that #2 should be relatively easy to atain, if not by color at least some symbol. That was the first thing I noted as well.

That is good news, did you hear that from a solid source? I would love that feature.

I've seen nothing to suggest that Multi-Room Viewing will turn into Multi-Room Copying...

If you have an HD non DVR you can set up a recording for any DVR in the network from the HD receiver. So it already exists just not from DVR to DVR. It's not copying just controlling what a unit in another room will record.

Guess it depends on how you interpret the original question #3. I read it as the ability to copy something already recorded on one DVR to another DVR.

At first it bothered me that they were mixed into one playlist, but with the label I soon came to like it. One playlist for the whole house.
Now the fifty slot series is better, but it would be nice if it asked no room here should it be scheduled for another DVR? Or some sort of MR series management.
It is now easier to schedule in another room, no searching, just do it from shared playlist.
Guess if i'm lazy I can do it with scheduler.

I just thought I would mention that what I meant by #3 was not being able to copy the files from DVR to DVR. I meant being able to do this...

I'm in my living room and I browse for a show. When I go to record it there should be an added option for which DVR I want to record to. So, for my example, I could choose to record to the Bedroom DVR (which in my case has a smaller hard drive).

Is that more clear?

You'll be able to do that from networked HD Receivers, but not networked HD DVRs. At least not at first.

That seems strange.

If that is the case it negates having multiple DVR's.

If you can record to it from other receivers and watch from the DVR on those receivers then who would need more than one?

Other than drive space 😉

There are also more than two tuners and more than fifty series titles recordable with additional DVRs.

Exactly, hyperanim8tor .... more drive space. And the ability to record even more than two channels simultaneously.

When you say "at least not at first" does that mean that you have no knowledge that they will ever allow it on DVRs. If not then I want to replace the DVR at my "main" watching position for a non DVR so I can use the extra functionality.

Maybe it would be best to wait a while. This is a beta release and who knows what the final application will feature. The beta for the HD receivers hasn't even been released for download as yet.

It's possible that the HD DVRs will also be able to manage recordings on remote DVRs, but we just don't know yet.
