Poor picture quality, and clicking with upgrades to ALL 4 tv's!

A couple of months ago we got our kids a DVR upgrade to their rooms since one of their receivers had went out. (they installed R16's in each of the 3 rooms) Also we got an HD-DVR upgrade to or LR TV. Every since the upgrades our TV's aren't as good as before. My kids ALL have unreadable guides, with very bright white lettering blending together bad! TV picture on the flat screen LCD in my son's room looks like DODO. It's worse than the others 2 kids tube tv! Its like non-digital tv looks with an outside antennea. ALSO, in the LR everytime we FF the HD- dvr, it makes a loud Click click click sound throu the duration of the fast forward.

We had a LOT of trouble getting someone to come for the installation. I had my appointment cancelled 2 times! Once they wanted to come to install at 9pm on a school night! Very frustrating............ Then when the man came, he said he was going to cut some corners, and give us an expensive install for free because it wouldn't take nearly as long...... something about putting all our DVR's on the same wire so he could pull it thru faster??? I have no idea about this stuff, and my husband wasnt here.  ANyway, does anyone have any ideas about how to improve picture quality on the 3 dvr's? --- Yes we have sdjusted the tv settings......... it doesn't help:(
