Poor video quality with wireless HDMI

I am using a GUSSLM Wireless HDMI Transmitter and receiver to connect my AV receiver to a BenQ projector. I am getting a lot of jitter and poor resolution with my DirectV service with this configuration, but not with streaming video from ROKU. Do you know why I cannot get a decent picture from DirectV with this setup?

Wireless HDMI transmitters can be problematic. How far apart are your devices? Moving closer can help. A different brand of transmitter/receiver might help. Of course, a direct wired connection is best.

The transmitter and receiver are in the same room and less than 20 feet apart. As I said, there does not seem to be any problem from my ROKU receiver, viewing programing from Netflix, Max, or Apple, or while viewing a BluRay DVD. I am going to connect my AVR with a long HDMI cable when I receive it from Amazon, to see if this fixes the problem. I just do not understand why the problem is only with the DirecTV receiver.

Just to be sure, can you just directly connect a monitor to the HDMI. I got 4k jitter/stutter a couple of days ago, and then the Gemini rebooted itself.. then it was gone. Was also only happening with satellite, not apps...

Well, some background is necessary. I recently switched out my plasma TV for the projector. The rest of the setup is the same. I did not have the problem with the TV. The wireless transmitter is connected to the AV Receiver/amplifier with the same HDMI port used previously by the TV.  My DirecTV equipment includes a triangular tower which communicates wirelessly with my two smaller devices, which are connected by HDMI to a TV in my bedroom and the AV receiver in my home theater, the latter being the system connected with the projector. Could the problem be due to wireless interference? Should I reboot the tower?

Looks like the projector is the problem. Maybe it does not correctly handle the HDMI/HDCP protocol coming from the directv box. What's the model number of the projector?

You have already proved it is your projector. No reboot is needed, but won't hurt anything.

I'd agree with texas, perhaps your 4k mode from your Genie Mini (I assume you have the Mini connected to your Genie 2 tower - PLEASE correct/provide model numbers) is not recognized by the projector. If you change the output resolution to something lower than 4k (in the Genie client settings) then does it work ok.

What are the projector specifications for 4k? what refresh rate?

Chiming in here - I have a DirecTV Genie HR54-200, and the same GUSSLM Wireless transmitter and receiver with the same issues that FSCALFANO reported - poor image quality and "tearing" (horizontal-line pixelation) during movement. Static picture is beautiful, but sports are unwatchable. For some reason, the Genie is sending only 1080i through the GUSSLM (according to the Genie's Info > Audio/Video setup menu), not 1080p, even though 1080p is enabled through the Genie's settings and the TV is a Vizio VP505 4K.

I tinkered with the Info > Audio/Video setup menu, and noticed that at least 2 of the options must be selected (primary and backup, probably). 1080i and 1080p were selected. So i turned on 720p and that let me turn off 1080i, while leaving 1080p selected. I restarted the Genie through Menu > Settings, and when it came back up, 1080p/60Hz was working! Picture quality through the GUSSLM setup is 95% of the quality of an HDMI cable (no more "tearing"/horizontal lines during fast motion), just a little blurriness during fast motion, which could be the camera work for the football game I was using as an example. My wife's vision is not as good as mine, and she's the one that watches sports, not me, so for now the GUSSLM setup is working. I have heard that the transmitter or receiver fries occasionally. We'll see how long this pair  works.

The only 1080P programing is a few PPV movies, all broadcast programing is 1080i or 720 so the HR54 is only sending that out.
