Possible to connect standard DVR to Humax TV with bullt in standard receiver?

I have one of the non HD Humax flat screen TV's with the built in standard receiver (non DVR).  Does anyone know if I can connect a standard DVR to it and bypass the built in receiver so I can record shows from this TV?  If so, how would I do this?  I also only have one line (no dual coax cable) coming into the room where this TV is but will soon be installing a SWM8 which should solve that issue.  This is a non HD TV.
