Problem connecting to Directv

When I turn to a channel that allows me to rewind to the beginning of a program I get the message "There was a problem connecting to DirecTV.  Please try again later."  I put in a call to tech support and they said it would need to be handled at a higher level.  I just received an email saying they did not find a problem yet I still cannot use this function.  How do I fix this?

We are happy to help you with connecting your receiver to the internet. This allows you to use the "rewind to the beginning of the program" feature.
