PROBLEMS RECORDING OUR HD PROGRAMS...

We have been customers for about 3 or 4 years now and this just started to give us problems this year. We have tried multiple times to get our HDDVR to record shows on the HD channels and they have either been distorted or not recorded at all. I have repositioned our dish multiple times to see if that helped and I have also tried the other troubleshooting tips that your site provides. Please help and get our HD channels recorded or I will have to be forced to cancel our service. 😞 MY HUSBAND IS FED UP 😞

Thanks,

Krystal

Please post back with your signal readings for each satellite's transponders (and both tuners if applicable).  You'll find these readings under "Menu" -> "Setup" -> "System Setup" -> Satellite -> "View Signal Strength".  Note the "+" and "-" symbols next to the "Satellite" and "Tuner" entries where you can toggle the readings between the various satellites and both DVR tuners.

Fill in your readings for each satellite and tuner using these examples.  A properly aligned dish will show 80-90s on most of the relevant transponders (although some will be low or zero):

Satellite transponders (32 total at 101º)

[Most of your standard definition channels are beamed from 101ºW]

17-24  #   #   #   #   #   #   #   #

25-32  #   #   #   #   #   #   #   #

Satellite transponders (3 total at 110º)

[Not present with Slimline3 dish. No channels are currently beamed from this satellite]

9-16   NA  #   NA  #   NA  NA  NA  NA

Satellite transponders (11 total at 119º)

[Not present with Slimline 3 dish. Local SD channels for some cities, Spanish package]

17-24  NA  NA  NA  NA  NA  #   #   #

Satellite transponders (16 total at 99º(s)) [or 99º(b)]

[Note: these can be very slow to appear]

Satellite transponders (14 total at 99º(c)) [or 99º(a)]

[National HD channels]

Satellite transponders (16 total at 103º(s)) [or 103º(a)]

[Local HD channels for some cities]

Post back those signals as requested.  Unless you're experienced in aligning a Slimline dish the correction you've attempted is not usually very effective.  Have you ever called and requested a service tech?

I will have to post back the signals tomorrow as I am off to bed now. Thanks for the help. I will be on tomorrow to do what was asked 🙂

So I did this, our numbers are in the 80's and 90's with only one 0. Now what?

I have not tried to service call yet as I am not sure how much it will cost us and we don't really have too much to spend on it at the moment. I am also trying to do all I can before I have to resort to calling them.

Sorry, we really need to see the complete set of transponder readings because there are useful clues in the actual individual values. And be sure to check BOTH DVR tuners.  If it's too much hassle, then call for a service visit.

It's free if you have their Equipment Protection Plan, or within 90-days of installation. Otherwise ~$50.

You think he's fed up now, wait till he finds out you didn't post the signal values.  Laughing  If you'll do this and it is your dish "position" we can maybe give you some "repositioning" tips and you can save the service call.
