Problems with fast forward on recordings with rain signal loss

Hello,

I understand signal loss is a fact of life with satellites during rain, but the software needs to be improved.

When I record a show that has some signal loss during rain, the program has still been recorded.  The fast forward functionality should always work like normal regardless of whether or not there is signal loss.

Can DTV please fix the inability to sometimes fast forward on recordings with rain signal loss?  Most of the time, fast forwarding still works in this situation, but sometimes it just gets stuck, and I can't move past a certain point even if I try to do a large jump to the next 30 minute marker on the recording.

If I watch without fast forwarding, it will make it past the point where it gets stuck fast forwarding, so this seems like a bug to me that could easily be fixed.

Thanks,

Jeff

My FF works even with multiple signal loss events cause by wind blowing a yucca plant into the signal path.  so maybe it is switching to the On Demand version that can't be FF.

Hi,

I don't use On Demand.  My receiver is not connected to the internet.

Try a red button reset.

I've pressed the red reset button on many occasions.  That's not the issue.

Sometimes exiting out of the DVR to a live channel then starting the recording again starts it again.  You should only lose signal in heavy rain and then for however long it takes for that cell to move out of the way, check your signal strengths.

My signal strengths are perfect.  I'm not home during the recordings and don't know if/when signal is lost and returns to start a new recording.
