Program remote for two receivers

I have had two Model R16 DVR receivers for sometime.  I combine the output of the two receivers and send their signal through-out the house on my cable network for  8 TV's.  I use the RC64RB remote in the RF mode to communicate with the receivers in the basement.  Now I replaced one of the TV's with and HD and one of the old R16 DVR receivers with a new HD DVR receiver, HR24/500, installed today.  The program works fine through out the house, but only the new TV can get HD.

The remote that came with the HD DVR is RC65RX.  It was programmed to interact with the HD receiver.  The remote I have for each of the other TV's is RC64RB   How do I program the old remote to the new receiver?  Can the new remote be programmed as AV1 to control the old receiver?

Thanks....Bart

Thanks, but this doesn't work.  I am wondering if I have the new receiver in IR mode and the old remotes in RF mode.  Is it correct that the receiver must operate in either RF or IR mode, but nmot both?

Yes.  When I signed up for this forum some years ago, it asked for a user name.  Widowspider is what I chose.  Now it appears to use my logon name.

To get the old remote out of RF mode. just do the following:

1. dtv, av1 or av2

2. press and hold MUTE & SELECT, wait for two blinks, release

3. enter 0 0 0 0 1

Now with receiver and remote back in IR mode, tune to the receiver on your tv, and enter menu of the receiver:

1. menu>parental, fav's, & setup> system setup> remote> IR/RF>

2. you will see either IR or RF, tap whichever to reveal both

3. press RF or RF & then done, the remote won't work any longer, now do the following on the remote:

a) dtv

b) press and hold MUTE & SELECT for two blinks

c) enter 9 6 1

d) press CH UP

e) enter the last 6 digits of the receiver ID #, found on a sticker in the access card compartment

f) press SELECT

Thanks.  I fixed it.  I actually wanted to get the new remote out of IR and into RF.  When I did this via the setup screen for the new receiver and went to IR/RF setup, I selected RF and now all my remotes can operate the new receiver from anywhere in the house.  Thanks for your help.
