Question about operation of the DVR with other receivers.

1 HD-DVR in Living Room

3 HD Receivers in bed-rooms

If I am watching a channel say ESPN, in one of the bedrooms, can I pause and rewind a show that is being watched live?

(neither the other 2 receivers or the DVR are on this channel they are all watching Nick or a recorded show)

Can I watch the same recorded show in all 4 rooms?

Cool

I only have DVRs so am not absolutely sure but I believe you can only watch recorded programs from the DVR playlist on the receivers. Hit the record button on the DVR remote and it will put the entire program being watched live into the playlist for viewing elsewhere as long as it isn't over 90 minutes old. If you are asking if you can pause the program you are watching on a non DVR, that is impossible. Only DVRs can do that. I'm pretty sure a recorded program can be played one external receiver at a time. You can answer these question yourself by trying them too.

Greywolf is spot on.  The receivers get their feed from recorded programs on the DVR, so in order to watch a "live" program hit the record button on the DVR's remote and the program will be available to the receiver.

And again, spot on, a DVR can only stream one program at a time.  If the original poster had it to do over again, two DVR's and two receivers would provide much more flexibility.  All four locations could have access to recorded material.
