Question about the new HD Guide
While I am patiently waiting for my receiver to update to the new guide, I am starting to realize that it may not work on my system. My HR24 is connected to my HD TV via Component Cables, not HDMI. According to the fine print on the web page, it requires HDMI. Secondly, my TV only supports up to 1080i, not 1080p. Will either or both of these factors prevent me from enjoying the new HD Guide?

no but if you like to enjoy it to the max is better if you use the HDMI cable even though your tv doesnt support 1080p it would be more then fine with 1080i or 720p that is also HD. So dont worry and chillax!!!

I doubt you'll see any difference between HDMI and Component Video connection. Both connections support both 720p and 1080i HD resolutions.

the only way it wouldnt work is if you had an H20 in the mix...all other recievers will work and properly...you may not see it as "sharply" as said neighbor with 80" 1080p 5.1 dolby surrond blow your mind theater system...but it will look sharp and stylish no matter what! I love the new UI...kinda a mood setter if you will 🙂

Many people are over-thinking this. If you have HD already, there is no need to do anything - you will get the new guide in the same quality. But as irishntn says, if you are using an HD receiver to drive an SDTV using composite video connections, and you haven't set the receiver/DVR to output only 480i resolution, you will get the on-screen message. This is because the receiver needs to know if you are using an SD-only signal so it can adjust the guide resolution.
