R15-500 makes strange noise after storm

My receiver in my bedroom started getting a garbled signal after a storm this past Saturday.  The receiver is an R15-500 that I have had since Early 2006.  The signal meter showed high strentgh and diagnostics came up with nothing.  The DVR still worked so I was just watching stuff off of there the next morning the thing was making this noise, like a digital thump noise like a skipping record.  Is it fried?
