Random recordings

I am new to Directv and its DVR, so forgive the newbie question. 

Why does the DVR record shows that I have not scheduled, specifically things on the PPV channels?  I'm guessing it's part of the "You Might Like" feature.  Is there anyway I can adjust the settings or control what is being recorded?  Some of the things I like, others seem random.
