Random shows taping

Since about a week ago, our Direct TV DVR has been recording random shows from Cartoon Network and recently, our local CBS affiliate WRAL.  We have a lot of shows we DVR due to our work schedules and these 'random' shows have caused a few of these shows to delete prematurely. I went into the scheduler and there is no trace of a setup for these shows. Is Direct TV promoting these shows for networks by recording them? I can recall this happening once or twice in the past, but since the beginning of December it's really become more prevalent.
