Receiver deactivates every 30 days. Please suggest easy way to reauthorize it

Hi, I have a receiver set up in the shed and I watch it by powering the generator from time to time. The receiver deactivates itself every 30 days and I need to reactivate it. Is there an easy way I can reactivate it without calling DirectTV? Why does it deactivate? Is it because it is not connected constantly to the power source? Thank you so much!

Hello @natykarp

You can easily refresh the authorization of the receiver by going to directv.com, sign into your account by clicking "My account" at the top right hand corner and clicking sign in, click "View My Equipment" when signed in, select "Refresh receiver" next to the receiver that matches the model and RID of the one in the shed, and click the orange "Refresh receiver" button. In a couple of seconds, service should be back on. You can also identify the correct receiver by looking at its label...

to expand on what @Constructive said, without information from the satellite constantly, the receiver will eventually lock up as a safety procedure and become a "BRICK" per say (until it connects to the satellite). To prevent this from happening again, I recommend putting the SHED receiver inside your house and keep it plugged into the satellite. But, if you are fine with reactivating it, don't worry.

The receiver needs to receive an authorization code from the sat  periodically, DTV does this so they a can disable it for non payment.
