Receiver Dish Compatibility.....
I recently had a SWM dish and 4 H24 receivers installed in my house. On my garage, about 100 yards away I have a Sharp BS1T1, 3 Lnb dish installed on the roof, aimed and ready to go. Will on of the H24 receivers work with this dish or does it have to be a SWM dish that I need to purchase? Thanks in advance for your help!

That dish (although I don't find any specs on it) is not a HD dish. If you want to receive HD programming on the HR24 you need a Slimline dish. They come in two flavors. Press and hold the info button then select more system info. Scroll down to dish type and it will be either SL3 or SL5. If it were me, I'd match that on the garage.

Thank you much!
I'm really not concerned if I get HD or not, just want to watch my nfl Sunday ticket while working in the garage. I just need to know if this receiver will work with that dish.

I think that's a Dish Network dish. It won't work with your DirecTV Receiver.

Thanks litzdog911,
No, it says DirecTV Multi Satellite HD right on it. The full model # is BS1T1UP433L made by Sharp. It has 3 LNB's and the multi switch is built right in and has 4 leads coming out of it. I have been using it with just a standard D-11 satellite receiver which crapped out. I now have HD installed and the H24-200 receivers with SWM. I just need to know if I can use it to bring in my NL ticket on Sundays.
Thanks.... Scott.....

Thanks for the complete model number. It should work fine. You'll need to change the satellite setup when you connect the H24 to that dish ....

Thank You Sir for the detailed explanation! I'll give it a try this weekend and let you know how it goes. I was just panicked by the SWM and having to power it up etc. I know it was only 100 bucks for a complete swm setup but I just hated getting back on that darn slippery roof. I am familiar with most of the DTV technology but this is my first encounter with the SWM stuff.
Thanks again!

One last quick question, I was reading last night on the forum of other SWM to non SWM Dishes and they call for something called a baseband converter to be connected to the H24-200. Is this something I'll need and is it true that DTV supplies them for free? Sounds fishy to me but I'm trying to cover all the "basebands". tsk.
Thanks. Scott.....

The BBC module is not required for non HD signals, only HD. If you were using a non SWM Slimline HD dish then yes, you'd need a BBC module connected to the sat input on the receiver and yes they are free from Directv. And no, they are not required on SWM Slimline dishes. They are also not ever required on 23 model DVR's and receivers, whether SWM or not.

After rethinking this entire thing, I've decided to just go ahead and order another SWM setup. My existing installation has a SL354NR2-02 on the house and I want to put up another one on my garage. Will an AU9-SL3 Combo from Solid Signal work ok to get the HD package I currently have if I use one my H24-200 receivers?
Thanks again!

the AU9-SL3 is an slimline dish with a conventional 3LNB. if you want a SWM version of the same dish you need the AU9-SL3S. click on the link below

The link takes me to a 5 LNB SWM, and I currently have a 3 LNB SWM which Solid Signal also has. Is there a reason that I should switch to a 5? I know this is probably a stupid question but for those also following this thread I don't want to leave anything to chance. I know, but it's my story. ha.

No. peds48 just posted the wrong link. You'll be fine with the 3-LNB SWM dish.

ooops, yes in deed, I posted the wrong link. but my point was to make sure that you are getting a SWM LNB instead of a regular LNB. SWM LNB's have an "s" at the end of the model number. so a regular LNB would be SL3 and a SWM would be SL3S
