Receiver in self test loop

My receiver seems to be in a self test do-loop.  When I turned it on this afternoon, the TV displayed "Your receiver is in standby mode.  Turn on power to watch TV".  Power switch didn't do anything, but after a few seconds it displayed "Your receiver is starting up" followed by "just a few more seconds" followed by "Receiver is performing a self test".  It will display the self test message for a few minutes, then screen goes black, the power light on the receiver goes off for a few seconds, then it will repeat the whole process.  I've tried resetting the receiver and unplugging it for several minutes, but get the same result.  Regardless of what I do, the power button on the receiver doesn't do anything - it's doing all this on its own.

Is it fried?
