Receiver Possessed

I recently upgraded from the non-DVR HD receiver to a new HR24-500 HD DVR.  I've had it for about two months.  It's hooked to a Samsung 3D Plasma.  After having the new receiver for about a week, I started noticing what appeared to be remote control interference issues.  The receiver would simply start dong things (changing channels, opening the guide, etc) without me prompting it with the remote.  Since then, it has gotten worse.  Once the issue starts, it continues for about 5 min (at a time) at a rate of about 20 "inputs" a minute, as if someone was sitting beside me with another remote  This makes the TV unwatchable.  If I reset the receiver, the problem goes away for a few hours but always resurfaces.  I've switched the remote from IR to RF and back again with no changes.  I've unplugged all other surrounding electronics (tv included) and it continues.  Any thoughts from the smart guys out there??  Much appreciated!
