receiver won't turn on after thunderstorm

had a thunderstorm today and screen went to it's usual "searching for satellite". all of the sudden my screen went blank. i waited a bit and noticed that my receiver wasn't on. i pressed the reset button, plugged the receiver into a different outlet....nothing. the tv and other components turn on, but not the receiver. tv and receiver upstairs are working though.
