Recording/Buying Movies Question

When does the 24 hour countdown begin on a recorded Cinema movie? Say I record a movie now, but I won't be able to watch it for a couple of days, how long will it stay on my hard drive before it auto deletes? Also, when do you pay for a movie you have recorded?
