Records everything

Hello all.  I'll start off by saying as soon as I can (when the contract fine gets smaller) I'm switching back to Dish.  In the meantime, whenever I choose to record a show and I only want the 'first run' that is what I choose.  What I get is every first run that they play each day!!  Apparently if the new show plays 3x that day the dvr records it each time.  is there any way to stop this besides switching back to dish?  thanks in advance...
