Remote in RF has no range
Directv replaced my HR22-100 (mfg. date of 3-13-09) receiver with the same model HR22-100 (mfg. date of 1-5-10) this week. I installed it and changed the remote to RF and found that it only works in my living room. When I take the remote to other rooms it will not work, not like my older receiver (3-13-09).
I called DTV, and they sent out another HR22-100R (mfg. date of 1-15-09) a year old and a refurbished model. When I took it out of the box I could hear something rattling inside of the box, like a loose screw. I then setup the remote in RF and I still have limited range. In the den not too far away it will not work, not like my older receiver.
DTV cannot guarantee any receivers sent out but I requested a HR23-700 model to see if that would be better. They agreed that this last receiver with the loose screw inside is not good, so I will have to wait to see it they are able to send me a HR23-700. I have been with DTV for 14 years, and it seems that newer customers get the newer receivers and older customers just get what they have in their warehouse. I was told by a service tech in my area that the only receivers they have for us are the HR20's because DTV does not give us local stations, this makes no sense to me since I have a AM 21 tuner and I am forced to accept a HR20 with a smaller hard drive.
Has anyone found limited range with these receivers in RF mode? What is the problem with these receivers when one is good and two are bad?
Thanks,
Daisy May
