Report Diagnostic code displayed below. (AR/3004)

There is a problem with your DIRECTV account. Please ensure you have Internet access and Try Again, if this problem persists restart the app or call Customer Service at 1-800-531-5000 and report the diagnostic code displayed below. (AR/3004)

I get this error message every few days. I have not found any resolution. My personal resolution is to remove the app from my device (ipod touch) and from my itunes.  Re-download the app and resync.  I'm not sure what I can do to prevent it but it has become more and more frustrating. I never received this message prior to the APP update but now receive it every few days.

Did you call and report the code?

Yes it's a known issue and they have no idea why the ipod/iphones are falling out of authentication with the device.  Some things they said to look for include:

an apostrophe in your device's name:    Jeff's iPod

if you're using airplane mode

trying to download VOD, PPV, or OTA content

As it stands the recommendation is to remove the app for the device. Delete the app from iTunes, re-download it and start the process over from scratch.

One additional thing I learned and something they are now telling their customers, do NOT under any circumstances go to Directv.com and change your password.  EXAMPLE:

Username:  Jeff@speed.net

Password:  Redred

"oh no i'm getting an authentication error".  Change passwor:

Username: Jeff@speed.net

Password: BlueBlue

You will never get on that device with BlueBlue, the Nomad will be Redred forever.

So, don't change your password to "fix" this.

It must be the apostrophe. I uninstalled and changed the name of my ipad and it is working now.
Thank you.
