RV HELP!!!!
I am extremely frustrated at the lack of consistent answers I have had for customer service regarding installing a new receiver in my RV. I recently switched my house from Dish network to DirectTV. I had intended to switch the RV at that time as well but the installers they sent out looked at the Wingard single LNBF dish on my RV and said it wouldn't work with directtv because it only had one instead of multiples. That I wouldn't be able to get networks on this dish so I just had them put it in the house. When calling customer service about my new account I was told that they were mistaken I could use it in the RV if I got the distant networks waiver (which I had for dish so no problem there) and that it would be no problem and most of the regular stations would come in on the 101 satelite then. They sent out the waiver form and now it says that those networks cost me $15 a month plus I have to set up a second RV account. Called customer service again and was told yes you do but your not charged a second package fee just the receiver box fee and the $15 for the networks. Someone else told me I didn't need it and I can't get the same answers from anyone. They are pretty clueless about RV setups.
Can anyone give me real answers?
1. Do I have to pay for two basic packages or is it just the extra $15 plus receiver fees for the RV account?
2. Currently with dish it runs two TV's in the rv. I understand I will need two boxes with Direct TV and no one knew the answer to this one, Will they provide another little black box like I have in the house that allows any receiver to watch any recorded program from all boxes in my house? I understand that the RV won't be able to watch the stuff recorded in the house and that's fine but no one seemed to know if I could have the other whole house connection box (don't know what it's called) so that I can watch anything I record in the RV from either TV. I currently spend months at a time on the road working while my husband is at home and need my own TV without affecting him being able to use the home system so I will have a box just for the RV and won't be taking one from the house to the road.
3. What stations do not come in on the 101? Is there a list somewhere that will tell me. I have the Choice Ultimate package and want to know if I will receive all my stations other than locals when on the road.
4. How easy is it to tune in the dish with the receiver? I've played around with my house box and it's harder to find how to tune it in than with the dish network system. With it I plugged in the zip where I was and it gave me the asimuth and elevation I needed to tune the dish mounted on my roof to get the signal. Does direct tv work the same way?
If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. I'd like to get rid of dish who has been horrible about raising rates and cutting stations which is why I switched to direct tv in the first place but having to keep them in the RV has been frustrating because no one can tell me strait how it will work for me.
