RV Setup using d12 500 and older 18 inch round dish and lnb

Our home setup is a slimeline swm with 3 receivers 2 hd dvrs, 1 d12 500.

We are trying to connect the d12 500 to an older 18inch round dish with a bss 12-12.7 ghz/950 to 1450 mhz lnb

i have changed to a multiswitch and 18 round in the receiver but still no satellite signal.

i am think it would be easier to get a second slimline setup and eliminate the constant changing in setup.

Can it be a bad lnb? or does it need upconvert?

i am only running 1 cable from lnb which has 2 connectors. should i be running 2 into some sort of switch? then to receiver.

that receiver should work fine with the 18 round dish. make sure that you change the dish type FIRST before changing the dish type. and is all about the dish aim. are you sure that the dish is align properly?

azmith at 230, elevation 37  all connections are tight. used compas for azmith, used handheld signal meter and signal meter on screen getting all zeros to all transponders tried with a line amplifier and without. not getting a cabling error onscreen.

the 230 is a starting point. you need to sweep the dish to find the satellite. and make sure that your mast is plumb and level.

As peds says, the azimuth number is just a starting point, you can't expect to be exactly on the satellite just by setting the dish to what you think is the correct azimuth.  Move the dish gently to the left of the azimuth and then if you don't find the satellite move it back to the right.  You should pick up the 101 satellite if you have the elevation set correctly. Note also if it's a simple hand held signal meter it won't tell you which satellite you are receiving, so even if you see signals it might be the wrong satellite.

that means that your signals are below the DTV standards.  your signals should be 90 or above on the 101 with some being low or zero.  but for a temp set up, low signals might be ok.  if you want to improve those signals you might have to adjust the elevation

Remove the line amp. You only need to run the cable between the dish and the reciever.  This could be part of your problem.  Use the recievers built in meter to read your signal levels.  18" round setup should take you less then 10 minutes.

All new endeavors (including aligning a dish) have a learning curve.  The size and shape of the curve can vary considerably.
