scrolling horizontal lines

Weirdness....  got email notifications about two answers to my question of a couple days ago, and the link in the email takes me to the forum thread, but will not let me reply to them.  No reply buttons or any other way to comment or answer back comes up on the screen.  At any rate, TexasBrit seems to be correct about the problem being my  TV.  I hooked the little black directv box up to a smart tv I inherited very recently and it works just fine....

Still not sure why if the TV screen is going out that it would not do the same thing no matter what kind of signal is incoming....   Theoretically if it is the TV it should not matter what the signal is, the TV would still malfunction....  I are confused.  Electronics not my forte.  Anyway, have solved my problem by getting rid of the old analog TV.  Will have to get used to the starkness of the new flat screen.... and the fact you can't see them unless you are within in about a 30 degree arc from center...  Really don't like these things...
