series stopped recording

The DVR has suddenly stopped recording new episodes in a series. I have it set to "record until disk full" and "record all episodes." the DVR recognizes the upcoming episodes but they don't record. Is there a maximum total episodes from a series? I have HDR receiver HR24. thanks!

There is a default setting for series links to tell the DVR how many episodes to keep.

thanks for your reply! how do you determine the maximum number? I changed the setting to "keep all episodes" and it doesn't record. we have 34 episodes recorder now. i have plenty of dvr space available. mainly i want to keep them all for my daughter -- she just watches them over and over. she doesn't seem to mind that none of them are new but we'd like to see one we haven't memorized 🙂 thanks anyway.

There are two different settings. The default setting will only apply to NEW series links. Existing series links have to be modified individually to the number of episodes you want.

I have same problem.  The future shows have the "R" on them as if they are scheduled to be recorded but neither the reruns or the new episodes record.  My setting are set for Record All, Keep All but they will not record.  Tired of watching them on Hulu, too dark.  Any other suggestions?

Yours is actually a different problem. Give me an example of a show that is not recording. And if you look in history at a new episode that did not record, what message do you see?

Actually mine is the same problem. Series is set to record all but doesn't record. Examples are nihao kailan and 30 rock.

No, probably a different issue.  The original poster almost certainly did not have those particular series links set to keep all episodes.

Your problem might be as follows. "Record all" does NOT record duplicates, and a duplicate is an episode that has been recorded in the last 28 days (even if it is no longer on the disk). IAlso, if the guide data from the program provider is screwed up, the DVR might think this is a duplicate and not record it.

As I posted, post back when you can with the tect from the history file for a NEW episode that was not recorded.

I was unable to find a NEW episode that had not recorded on history, as no episodes have recorded for several weeks.  Started recording American Horror Story on FX and did so for I think 6 eps but it won't record anymore.  I was able last night to record it but I had to delete the other 2 things that were recording then as well.  I have AHS listed as #1 primary.  When I scroll forward I can see that the RRR is on the show but just won't record.  I appreciate the info on dupes, I figured that as originally I could record new Wed show but when it repeated the next Tues it would not record.

I assume that you're aware that there is a setting on the Series setup menu called "keep at most"?  That limit is default set to five.

deflorence - if there is a conflict and there are two programs of higher priority set to record, then the DVR will record the third program later if it is repeated (which many of them are). It won't necessarily appear in the todo list. That's why we always recommend setting network shows at higher priority than "cable" shows that are repeated.

I suspect the DVR is behaving as it is designed to.

Yes, but we only would ever have 1 or 2 recorded at a time.  We watch and delete.

Thank you for the explanation.  I'll keep plugging away at it until I get it right.
