Signal Issue even in mild rain

We have had DTV for about 2 weeks now. We get our local channels from Kalamazoo, MI or Grand Rapids, MI.   Every time we get mild rain we have either complete signal loss or the picture and sound become choppy.  I am not sure what is going on at this point.  Not sure if we need to simply tighten the mount bolts or if we need a tech to come out.  Here is my info (btw it is very overcast and spitting just a little rain off and on):

Satellite transponders (32 total at 101º)

[Most of your standard definition channels are beamed from 101ºW]

If someone can help that would be great.  If I simply need a tech out just let me know.

These readings are all from tuner 1.  I did not post from tuner 2 if I need to do so please let me know as soon as possible.  Thanks.

Are the Tuner 2 readings the same?  Those readings look awesome.

The tuner 2 readings are the same or better.  That is what is frustrating.  It will rain and readings will go down into the 50s.  Is it possible that the wind is moving the dish?  We have the dish mounted on a flat roof.  Any ideas?  I can tighten the bolts if necessary.  Thanks a bunch for taking a look. The dish must be rigid and have monopole braces on the mast in order to stabilize it.  See pic.

That looks like the dish that I have.  Is there something I should do?

So the problem is not alignment.  You might have a loose or defective coax cable connector at your dish or ground block.  Or perhaps a cracked LNB that's getting moist.

I will check them.  Is a cracked LNB something that can easily be seen?  Quote: Originally Posted by litzdog911

Maybe.  Sometimes you'll see condensation inside.  But not always.

We can speculate all day long about what might be the problem, but you've only been in service for 2 weeks.  I'd get an installer out there ASAP to assess the situation.

I think you are right.  We had a mild rain again today and we lost the signal for 5+ mins.  My wife is not happy b/c this never happened with Dish Network and I made her change for the football package.  I went on the roof today and didn't see anything wrong.  It has already stopped raining and the signal is still going in and out.  Time for a tech.

Let us know what the tech finds.  If the weather is nice when the tech arrives, try spraying water on the dish to see if that makes the problem appear.

What was the cause of your problem bejewell?  I experienced the 771 error for the first time in light rain the other day.  I have only had Directv for 3 weeks now.

There are any number of variables here, so best to start your own new thread using the "Create New Post" button on the main forum page. Your problem may very well be different from the original poster's. With a new thread you can provide more information about your equipment, location, and troubleshooting you've tried so far. And this forum software makes it difficult to track or respond to folks that add onto someone else's thread.
