Simple question... what's this?

On the front left of the DirecTV receiver, behind the little pull down door is a plug-in... USB?  What's that for?  I am wondering if I can plug my laptop into the TV so the screen shows up on the TV... I'm homeschooling five kids and it would be great to project the laptop screen onto the large screen TV!
