snow screen on tv after trying to reset remote

I called into direct tv because my remote always does not work when pointed at the tv. she had me poit it and do several different codes and then push the top button over to tv and do the same thing, well now I have a snow screen on my tv. I can change the tv to any channel but it is still s snow screen, now they say i have to wait a week.. Need help please I have a hd dvr and it is a hr21-100 with a direct tv remote rc65, and a slyvinia tv..
