Software Dated 8/17/23 HDR setting
On a previous update I was able to shut off HDR if I wanted to in the Settings area. Now that is no longer an option. Are we stuck with HDR all the time now??

I wish I had your problem, I cannot turn mine on!
Seriously, you will want to post your model numbers to get better help.

I have two C71KW-400s Client Software release-r-wnc00x1966-7
with a HS17R1/500 server Software 0x1983, Thu 8/17, 4:16a
I used to go to settings and had a display option to turn HDR on or off.

Under settings...display settings ... tv color... all I have it a "Test TV", and apparently it says my TV is not HDR compatible...
I believe my TV is, a samsung, but perhaps it needs a particular HDR version, or, since it is not connected directly to the TV, but through a receiver, this is the issue.
Am still researching what versions of HDR are needed, and how my Denon passes video through.
So, does your menu work like mine, i.e. you cannot "set" HDR, only "Test" and see what DTV tells you?

There were times where the "Test TV" would say TV is not HDR Compatible when the TV said it was getting an HDR signal. My LG TVs say "HDR" as soon as you turn them on unless you have the HDMI cable going through a convertor or splitter.
My Vizio TV has 3 HDMI ports and one of them is not "Ultra HD Color" and it would test not compatible.
Don't know about Samsung.

apparently your TV needs at least HDMI 2.0a and HDCP 2.2.

Test yours with out the Denon using the HDMI cable that came with the Gemini. It should be HDMI 2.0a and HDCP 2.2
My TV works fine with that cable. Just the latest update took away the ability for the Gemini to turn off HDR. It was inconvenient but it worked. Show SDR shows are too dark in Gemini's HDR so I liked to turn it off. Now I can't.
Maybe the next update will fix it more conveniently.

Thanks, I was going to test with the Denon out of the loop, although it's an X3800H, fairly high end... should not be the issue, but sometimes it is even the cable, will isolate. (and of course with the Denon in the circuit, it's TWO HDMI cables.
I hear you about HDR, I have a new LG OLED in the works, should be able to have HDR on all the time and enough brightness.

Do you experience any random reboots/disconnections with the C71? I have the same software versions on my one GEMINI and HS17 and I am currently with a third box and it seems to have the same problems. When it does the green light on the front panel blinks about 5 times red and then goes back to green and connection is restored. I tried moving it around, used a DECA, used my WiFi network, used the DIRECTV WVB network...same issues. My internet is 500MB and I have EERO mesh network no issues whatsoever.

Not really. I did have it come up with 480p instead of the normal 2160p yesterday. I just restarted it. That's when I noticed not being able to change HDR.

When you go under This Device Info....and then under Client vIdeo Network, do you have any number listed under disconnections? Obviously that is in case if you use wireless, if you are wired with a DECA, it will not show any. It will only show that is connected via MOCA. Thank you.

Not meaning to steal the topic, but I see 3 disconnections, all wireless connections... any idea over what time frame the disconnections are? Looking at system info for the Gemini, I don't see uptime. (I also noticed no 4k resolution on TV resolutions, again blocked by my Denon?)

For the Denon (depends if it is a newer model) you might have to adjust the HDMI settings on the input inside the Denon settings. So far today I have had 1 disconnection, but they are very sporadic. Also since you have 3 so far monitor it for the next couple days and see if this is going to change. With the previous two Gemini boxes I had at most of four times a day. I am thinking there is something with the whole Internet (not my home WiFi) connection and overall communication between the Gemini and the HS17.

Yeah, I will, thanks. I found an uptime setting somewhere, but might have been on the Genie 2. Digging into the HDMI settings, I also want to get "newer" hdmi cables, and first plumb the TV right into the Gemini, and work out the HDR and 4k issues. Then when that all works, I can add in the Denon... it is pretty new and does 4k and is an 11.4 unit (does atmos front and rear).
