Sound cutting out with Gemini
After install my sound kept cutting off for a few seconds at different times on both of my Gemini boxes (Garage and Den). Directv sent out a tech who replaced the installation cables. Sound got worse. They issued me a new Set top box, didn't resolve the issue. I disconnected my surround sound and it still had the issue. I bought a new Sonos Arc soundbar, sound cutting out got worse. Called and another tech came out and replaced the tower. Was sure that would resolve the issue. Still cutting out. Tower is away from other electronics. Now, when it cuts out, the sound is out for a couple of minutes and when it comes back on we lose the volume control on the Gemini remote. Have to use the TV remote to control the volume.
I am in a contract and need this to work. The sound is a major issue with it cutting out frequently.
I have a regular set top box in my bedroom and it does not have the issue of the sound cutting out. Is this a Gemini issue? I have a smart TV and a Roku, do I need the Gemini for 4K or can I use the regular set top box instead? I believe I will just be missing the internet backup if I replace the Gemini set top box with the regular box? Hoping this would resolve the sound cutting out and back on?

Only the C61K (wired only) and the C71WK Gemini can output 4K.

I am having the same issue with the Gemini boxes. I have 4 wireless receivers total, 2 gemini and 2 C61's, with 1 of the gemini's on a TV using a Sonos Arc soundbar. The sound on both of the Gemini's will cut out randomly for about 2 seconds at a time, then come back, whereas the 2 C41's do not have that issue. I have reset all boxes multiple times, replaced HDMI cables, moved boxes around to different TVs, and the sound issue follows wherever the Gemini boxes are hooked up. This is extremely aggrevating, and I didn't seem to have this issues until a few weeks, maybe a month ago.

are your Gemini's directly connected to your TV or are you running a soundbar or audio receiver?

My Gemini's are going directly to the TV. My Sonos soundbar is plugged into the e arc port on my TV. Tonight I lostball sound through my soundbar completely with Directv. If I go to YouTube it works fine. I can't get any sound while on Directv. It only has sound through the TV speaker when I unplug the soundbar. This is totally a Gemini issue conflicting with soundbars. This is the 2nd soundbar I have had and both have had the same issue with the Gemini.

My setup is the same, Gemini going directly to the TV, with the Sonos soundbar HDMI cable coming out of the TV's e-arc port. Its not a soundbar issue, I have a 2nd gemini on another TV that does the same thing. I have removed the soundbar, moved both Gemini's to other TVs in the house, and regardless of the setup, the sound cutting out issue always follows the Gemini box. I didn't have this issue until maybe a month ago.

I am so frustrated with the issues I am having with the Gemini Box. I just signed up and am in a 2 year contract with Directv. I have had techs out 3 times now, and still haven't resolved the sound issues.
I personally don't think they can as the issue is with the Gemini box.
I just bought a new Sonos Surromd system and can't use it or any other surround system with Directv. Even without the surround system connected, the sound still cuts in and out. So frustrating.

I have my gemini going to an AV receiver for audio. Quite often I have no audio. Happens several times a day.
Changing my receiver to a different input (blu ray usually) and then back will fix the problem.
Sometimes changing to a different channel will bring the audio back.
In the past turning the dolby audio off or on also brought the sound back.
MANY people have this problem. I'm living with it. It's only on the brain damaged Gemini

Gregeusa, I am attempting the same methods as you to keep the audio in my speaker. I just found by turning off the Dolby brought it back. Don't know if this makes a difference, but I also turned the remote setting to control the TV instead of the speaker. By doing both, my sound came back in my speaker.
I am going to try one more thing...
I have ordered an Optical cable. I am going to try using HDMI in the speaker, and Optical end into the Optical port of the TV. I will see if this helps instead of using the E-Arc port on my TV..
My daughter works for Best Buy, The techs told her this might work, as with HDMI - E-Arc, the sound is sent to the TV and then back to the speaker. With the Optical connection, it goes straight to the speaker.
Now I just worry if by using the direct Optical connection if the speed will become an issue? I am hoping the words will match the volume. Don't want to feel like I am watching an old movie with subtitles where the lips don't match the speech.
I will let yo know how the Optical connection works out. 🙏
It's the last idea I have to try to make this work. Superbowl and playoffs are here... I need my surround sound system!!

I have optical as the feed to my receiver.... sound still sometimes cuts out, and also often it is no longer on when the system is first turned on.
I leave dolby on, and usually changing channels brings it back. Sometimes a power cycle.
The fact that changing the channels sort of kicks it in the rear and the sound comes back shows it is a sofware glitch in the Gemini. My Genie Mini connected to the same Genie 2 never has sound issues.
Thus it's proven that it is the DTV Gemini. Hopefully some day it will be fixed.
Dolby on/off should not affect it either.

So I got an optical cable and tried it. Hated the sound of my speaker without Dolby Atmos. Had to reprogram the remotes. The TV no longer controlled the surround sound, so when I shut off the TV the surround sound stayed on.
At this point, I said enough......
I removed the optical cable, plugged the HDMI back into E-Arc, and turned Dolby back on.
I called Directv, unleashed and demanded they remove my 2 Gemini boxes and replace them with different 4K boxes. They came out same day, replaced my boxes. The only thing I no longer have is the apps on their box. I have a smart TV and Roku, don't need them. It's been 2 days and I have not had a single sound issue. Surround sound is perfect and as it should sound.
The new Gemini boxes have issues and they need to work out the bugs in them.
The tech informed me that the Gemini's were originally made for Directv Stream. They decided to use them for sattelite customers.
They still have not perfected them.
So.... if your having sound issues with your Gemini... have them swap out the Gemini for another different type of 4K box. Definitely worth it. Sound cutting on and off was driving me 🤪

So the fact that the boxes were originally made for stream is related to audio problems how?
They still have issues, for sure, indeed the latest update has the audio often get garbled, and changing the channel up and then back clears the issue...
The only light at the end of the tunnel, is that the Gemini is Android TV, which will EVENTUALLY get the bugs out.
It's still the nicest system I can buy, in terms of integrating apps with the streaming service in my opinion, even with it's warts.
