Speed test needs an HBO subscription?
What is going on with Directv lately? They drop channels from my package and still charge the same.
I can’t downgrade my packages like I used to be able to online. Now I need to call??
And now it’s saying I need an HBO subscription to run the speed test?
Absolutely downhill since AT&T took over, garbage!

What channels did they drop?
You can still change your package online. Why do you think you can’t?
And no you don’t need HBO to run a speed test. Why would you? Are you talking about when you go to Menu - Settings - Internet Setup - Run Speed Test?
Don’t blame everything on AT&T.

I lost the local NY sports channels from MSG networks. I’ve called 3 times and their global service group was supposed to be researching it and supposed to reply to me. No reply.
Before I could downgrade or upgrade my packages at any time. Now I cannot downgrade online, it’s not an option and there is a message that says to call. I liked being able to switch based on sports seasons.
I refreshed my receiver physically and online today. When I go to run a speed test it says error code 88, which doesn’t even come up on the searches on directv’s site. And it also says it requires a subscription and that I need to subscribe to HBO on demand.
I had ZERO issues before AT&T took over, so I blame them. Don’t get offended since you are a partner, it’s just the way it is.

There was a bug in the software that caused speed test to not work right, unknown if it has been fixed.

What package do you have? And what are you trying to downgrade?
I just ran a speed test without any errors.

I usually bounce back and forth between the lower preferred choice package and entertainment standard package when the hockey season ends and NASCAR is no longer on Fox stations. The MSG networks and Fox sports were the only reason for me to keep the entertainment package. Now with MSG networks being removed from the package, I only need Fox Sports for a little while longer. It was nice to save a little money for a few months. It’s no longer an option to downgrade and now they have 24 month agreements.

MSG Networks are Regional Sports Networks. Regional Sports Networks are not included in the Entertainment package. So, if you were getting them in that package then Directv was giving them to you as a complimentary service. So, it’s not like they actually removed channels that were in your package but you’re still paying the same price. They removed channels that are actually only available in the Premier package and Sports Pack that you were getting as a complimentary service for free.
The Preferred Choice package requires an international add on. A better package to downgrade to from the Entertainment package would be the Select package. You only lose ESPN, ESPN 2, FS1 and NBCSN. Saves you $12/mo, and doesn’t require an international add on. You do not get put into a 24 month contract when you change your package.

I have the same problem with speed test among other things...
Receiver hung this morning, turned it off and back on and it came back...after it went through all of the inputs from the remote that I put in 5 minutes earlier... Then.. it scrambled everything!
Re-seating the card fixed the scrambling problem, but speed test still wants me to subscribe to HBO on demand.
Oh, and Motortrend on demand has disappeared!

I'm about done with AT&T altogether...
There are a lot of cheaper options out there.

As soon as we get a smart TV we’re done with messing around with dishes and cables! 👍
