splitting signal to rest of house

I installed a new vcr/dvd recorder and prior to that the signal was sent to the rest of the house through a splitter setup by installer.  Now I can get receiver & vcr/dvd to work with my (which has to have a rf output box) but when I try to attach connector to send to rest of house it doesn't receive any signals.  Any suggestions?

sounds like you disconnected something on the splitter or the swm power inserter, hook it back up the way it was

By "signal" I assume you mean the VCR's video signal?  You probably had a coax splitter connected to the VCR's TV OUT (Ch3 or Ch4) that was sent to other TVs in your house, is that correct?

I tried reconnecting the same way and it didn't work.  When installer put in new direct tv unit he brought a new line in to take directly to receiver.  Where line comes in wall he used a splitter to take line to receiver and the other to plug in wall to send to other rooms.  When I try to have it hooked up that way, picture go to no signal when line to plug is attached.  I have tried different wire, but it still comes up the same.?????
