Successful Multi-Home Installation
After reading the forum, It took me a couple of phone calls to get this order correctly. I ended up talking to a Supervisor in order to have a successful installation. The wait line for installation was about a month when I scheduled it but they put me on a list if anything became available prior they would call me. 2 days later, I got a call phone a tech and the installation was complete today.
2 new receivers - HR24-500 (family Room) and H24-100 (Bed Room)
The tech came with a Deca installation and I was able to talk to him in order to just install withou it.
Here's the trick, IF you have an older receiver like HR20 or below, YOU NEED Deca and additional adapters in the back of each receivers.
They replaced the dish to a slim and a new 8 port switcher.
I didn't want my other DVRs in the network.
HR20-700 or HR20-100 with RJ45 connector but I don't think they are able to use them anymore unless you install Deca
R16-300 (a non-networkable unit)
I was the first installation for these tech that came and they were nice and easy to work with.

A red button (inside card door) reset never hurts and often helps stubborn network issues.

Well, you should call Directv and have the technician return and fix your system, all installs carry a warranty.

I have been so displeased with the service I have gotten lately that I want to fix the problem myself.

kerbdog23,
I understand how you are feeling but, it's a risk you are taking by doing this. I had the same feeling, but since I have the Protection Plan; I am paying them to correct any installment problems and replace any defected equipment. I totally agree with dcd about calling them. Also you can do a search on the forum (I think the information you are seeking is on this thread) as to how your receivers should be correctly connected, then print this information. You can show it to the installer upon arrival at your residence, I am quite sure the person would appreciate that you have some insight of the installment. Best of luck, don't get up just keep fighting.

You're certainly welcome to correct your own problem assuming you know what is causing it. You could very well have a failing DVR or receiver, any number of things.

I have finally figured it out. I removed the bsf and bam! it works perfect. Now I just need to get the internet set up.
