SUNGAM or DCD: CAT5 hard-wire using ethernet switch for 2 DVR's

You have been very helpful with my wiring questions. I want to connect my HR24 and HR23 ethernet ports to my Qwest DSL wireless modem/router ethernet port (for On Demand, etc), hard-wiring them with CAT5 cable and a "TRENDnet (brand) 5-port 10/100 Mbps Fast Ethernet Switch", as per your previous recommendations in an earlier post. Sungam advised me NOT to daisy-chain them for maximum performance. The switch has (5) RJ-45 ports, but no "IN" or "OUT" designations...the instructions are quite vague. Do I just connect a CAT5 cable from the modem to ANY port, and connect the dedicated cables from each DVR to ANY port? There are 6 LED's...one for POWER, and one for each of the 5 ports, with port 5 having a designation of "LINK/ACT". Sorry, I'm not very computer/network savy! Then I go into the HR23 NETWORK menu to "connect". I also understand that after I connect the RJ-45 to the HR24, I have to first reset the DVR to disconnect the internal DECA, which will enable the ethernet port, then go into the NETWORK menu to connect. Would appreciate your advice.
