Switching HD Receiver with HD DVR

So I decided to switch out my HD Receiver that is in my room to the HD DVR in the living room so that recording shows/movies wouldn't conflict with whatever someone is watching downstairs. I thought it would be a simple switch to just hooking up the boxes in where the other was. The HD Receiver works fine down stairs in the living room but the HD DVR seems to have trouble connecting to the satellite. I'd like to know how to fix this. I'd like to do it myself without having someone come out and do it.
