Tailgate help

I purchased an extra dish to takc camping and tailgating.  The dish is a AU9 and my reciever that I pull from the house on the weekends is a H24-100.  I have followed the set up instructions to the T and cannot get a signal.  I have brought the reciever back into the house and it works just fine.  What am I doing wrong??

Hard to say.  90% of the time the problem is alignment.  These dishes are not easy to aim and align.  How are you doing that?  http://www.dishpointer.com is a great resource for aiming coordinates and aerial mapping tools.  They even sell a Smartphone app that let's you see where the satellites are located in the sky using your phone's camera, GPS and compass.

Also, you need to determine if your home dish is Single Wire Multiswitch (SWM) or not.  Press the remote's Dash (-) button .... does the Receiver display "SWM connected" on your TV?  If yes, you have SWM.

You'll also need to determine if your new dish is SWM or not.  Does it have one coax output on the LNB assembly, or four?  If it has one it's SWM and will require a SWM Power Inserter.  If four, then it's not SWM.  If the two dishes are different, it makes the Satellite Setup a bit trickier.
