The "Whole-Home" Fiasco

I had the Whole-Home System installed on Thursday (3 days ago). I have since spent countless hours on the phone with Tech Support and it still is not working properly. This is a rundown of the problems and some of the remedies that I tried:

 

 

  • The HD-24/100 receiver in one of my rooms would not access the "Whole-Home" playlist.

 

 

remedy: The technician performed a firmware update on the receiver and the playlist now shows up.


 

  • I could only record one program at a time on my DRV (3 each) receivers. I also could only watch one program from any single DVR in the system from the other sets.

 

remedy: I was guided through a "Satellite/Installation" reset in order to change the settings on each of my DVR receivers fro "single" to "dual".


 

  • Only one of my DVR receivers can access the other two DVRs in the system. The other DVR receivers can only access one other DVR. (not two)

 


remedy: Called for a technician (problem not solved).


  • The HD-24/100 receiver can access all three DVR receivers. However: One of the DVR receivers shows as busy (even when not in use). I am not able to view or control any recordings from the DVR that appears busy.

I would appreciate any feedback.

It cost me $200 to install this service. 

$99 for a DVR upgrade

$50 for upgrade fee

$49 for installation

 

There is no DVR upgrade - I have a HR23 and H23 before and after the install the software was also the same. 

Install fee - unscrew two coax cables add a box and plug two CAT5 cables into the box. He even wondered why he there to install.

Upgrade Fee - I understand this fee but was told when I complained about the other charges that I could have avoided this why some option not presented to me at the time of the order. I haver don't disagree with this fee. But why did I pay for a DVR upgrade and another upgrade fee?


And don't forget they charge you $3 a month for the privilege of this service. 

 

I hate being lied too... So I canceled the service even before I tried it and I will cancel my Directv service in 21 months. I can get lied to by Warner Cable just the same without the weather problems.
