Trouble hooking up the network/Internet

I am trying to hook up to the Internet and I keep getting error. The IP Address and the subnet mask say that they are okay, but the Default Gateway amd the DNS are blank; network says "coax Not connected(9)" and Internet says "not connected(13)" I have it wired to the router and I can use the cord to surf the internet with the computer. Any ideas or anyone know how to use the advanced setup?
